Ron’s Story

It All Began in a Sunday School Classroom

My story with Jesus began on March 9, 1969.

I was a young boy sitting in Sunday School when my teacher, Mrs. Rose, took the time to explain to me what it meant to know Jesus personally. That morning, she led me to the Lord, and I gave my heart to Jesus.

I could not have known then all the places life would take me, the people God would bring across my path, or the ways He would continue shaping my story. But that Sunday morning became the starting point of a relationship that has carried me throughout my life.

The details have changed many times since then.

Jesus has not.

A Life of Ministry and Serving Others

As I grew older, God gave me opportunities to serve Him in ways I never could have imagined as that little boy in Sunday School.

Ministry became an important part of my life. I attended Moody Bible Institute, served as a youth pastor, and later had the privilege of serving as a deacon. Some of my favorite memories come from working with young people, teaching the Bible, encouraging families, and watching God work in lives one person at a time.

Over the years I learned that ministry does not happen only behind a pulpit or inside a church building.

Sometimes ministry happens across a kitchen table.

Sometimes it happens during a conversation with a friend.

Sometimes it happens while working with your hands.

And sometimes God uses something as ordinary as a toy, an animal in the backyard, a family memory, a storm, a vacation, or an unexpected moment to remind us of something eternal.

That realization eventually became the heart of Finding God in Life’s Details.

Family, Faith, and Everyday Life

God has blessed me with a wonderful family.

My wife, Becky, has shared this journey with me for many years. Together we have experienced the joys, surprises, changes, laughter, and challenges that come with building a life and raising a family.

Today, some of my greatest joys come from being a husband, dad, and grandpa.

Family has also provided plenty of material for my writing. Memories from childhood, adventures with my own family, lessons learned from parents and grandparents, and the simple moments that happen around the house often find their way into my devotions and stories.

I have discovered that God frequently teaches us through the people closest to us.

We just have to pay attention.

From the Workshop to the Written Page

Another place where I have always enjoyed slowing down and creating is the workshop.

Woodworking has taught me patience, attention to detail, and the importance of seeing what something can become before it is finished.

A rough piece of wood may not look like much at first. But with time, careful work, sanding, shaping, and patience, something beautiful can emerge.

I have often thought that God works in our lives much the same way.

He sees what we cannot yet see.

Writing became another workshop for me — except instead of sawdust, wood, and tools, I began working with memories, Scripture, experiences, and words.

The more I wrote, the more I realized that the ordinary details of life were filled with reminders of God.

Finding God in Life’s Details

That is how Finding God in Life’s Details grew from an idea into something much bigger.

The purpose is simple:

Slow down. Look closer. God may be speaking through something you almost missed.

I love taking familiar things and asking, “What can this teach us about God?”

Sometimes that means writing about nature.

Sometimes it is a childhood memory.

Sometimes it is prayer, waiting, family, travel, animals, weather, or something sitting on a shelf that most people would never think could become a devotional lesson.

But again and again, I have found that the little things can point us toward very big truths.

That idea has led to devotional books, daily devotions, weekly prayers, stories, and even the fun of Where’s Ron Wednesday.

The subjects may change, but the purpose remains the same: helping people notice God in everyday life.

My Prayer for You

If you have found your way to this website, my hope is that you will discover more than books, stories, or devotions.

I hope you will be encouraged to look at your own life differently.

God is present in the ordinary.

He is present in the waiting.

He is present in the laughter.

He is present in the memories.

And He is present in the details we sometimes overlook.

My story began with a Sunday School teacher named Mrs. Rose who took the time to tell a little boy about Jesus.

Decades later, I am still telling people about that same Jesus.

And as long as He gives me stories to tell, lessons to learn, and words to write, that is exactly what I plan to keep doing.

Because Jesus holds the pen, every part of the story still matters.
